FAQs
This list isn’t for the faint hearted!
Probably more than you ever wanted or needed to know, but here goes!
|
1.
What do we make?
|
We make labels, with or without special backings, keychains,
zipper pulls and other such from flexible PVC. We also have
available a non-PVC resin.
|
2.
How do I contact Identity Plus?
|
Just chose the contact point that seems the most relevant to your
needs, and send us a note.
You can also give us a call at 619•474•1776.

3.
Project Turn Time?
|
Samples generally within one week of approved artwork. We can turn
samples in three days total if pushed, and paid! It may cost
you!
Production turn times depend upon your quantity, complexity
of the piece, how busy we are, etc. As a rule we turn most
orders within 2 weeks. We once started a project on a Tuesday
(art approval stage) and the following Monday we shipped 17,000
pieces. They were desperate, and we wanted to help out. Well,
we always want to help out, but most people aren’t quite
that desperate.
We also work from blanket PO’s with a number of people.
They take advantage of quantity pricing by giving us an order
that covers their needs for six months or a year. We make
and hold the piece for them. We can ship same-day as they
call out quantities. This is a great deal for all of us. We
get to keep busy when things are slow, and you get volume
pricing.

4.
Pricing Guidelines & Quotes?
|
Pieces are priced on a custom basis. The size of the piece, the shape,
the number of colors and the design elements all come into
play in our quotes. We can quote from faxed artwork as long
as we know the overall size of the piece and the color placement.
E-mailed files also work just fine. Quotes are good for six
months from date of issuance. Art, size and color changes
may necessitate a re-quote.
|
5.
Whats the sequence of events to getting a piece?
|
You send us, via fax, or e-mail your design to be quoted
you get a quote in a day usually a lot less.
You like the quote and our fast service and say, yup,
lets go ahead. We take the art and turn it into
an art approval; a black and white visual of your label. This
is your last free chance to change sizes, color placements,
addition or deletions of things like ® and marks,
etc. So, be sure of what you are looking at on the art approval!
No question is a dumb question; we all had to figure this
out sometime!
We hate like the devil (yup, I cleaned that up!) to have people
think they understood and they really didn't, and they don't
like what they get and then we have to tell them we have to
remake the plates, and plates cost us a substantial amount
of money, plus there's more Fed Ex, and frequently more art,
and all this runs into money; which always reminds me of an
old joke of my Dads, but it is in really poor taste!
You sign the art approval and fax it back to manufacturing.
Without it, we dont move.
|
6.
What happens when I sign the art approval?
|
Our artist 'steps and repeats' your design and it is sent via
modem (see, we told you we were fast!) to the plate house.
If they get it before noon PST, they almost always ship the
plate out the same day. It comes Fed Ex. When we get your
plate, we proceed with sampling. Colors are already mixed
and waiting, kind of like the suitcase of a pregnant lady,
and we spring into action.

7.
Samples?
|
Samples are made the morning we receive your mold. They are hand-cut
as it takes one to two days to get the cutting die. This generally
isnt a problem as customers know their finished product
will look even better than the samples if it is a problem,
let us know and well move the die along as quickly as
possible. Samples are Fed Exed to you for next day delivery.
Sometimes we miss by a day, but NOT VERY OFTEN! We can turn
samples in 3 days if necessary, but then you get to pay us
even more! Guarantees always cost something!
|
8.
Sample Approval?
|
A sample approval form accompanies your samples. We will not
proceed with your production quantities until we have received
it back via fax.
|
9.
How do I attach it?
|
You can sew it on, you can radio-frequency weld it on, you can
heat seal it on with Bemis heat seal, you can stick it on
with pressure sensitive adhesive, you can make magnets, probably
some other things we haven't thought of! Here again we have
something up our sleeves when it comes to adhesives and magnets.
It really works, call us, and we'll share. If you have technical
Bemis (heat seal) questions, please let us know and well
tell you what we know.
|
10.
Can I kill it?
|
Probably not! About the only thing it doesn't like is heat to the face
- then you don't kill it, you just melt it and make it morph
into something else. When the Martians land you'll be universally
known! You can however, destroy it by burning it. That's kind
of a nasty end to a cool label though! Yes, you can wash it,
dry-clean it, stone-wash it, acid-wash it and all right, all
right, Esteban says we can't be responsible for acid- washing
results. But try it, maybe you'll like it!
|
11.
Anything else?
|
Se Habla Español et un petite peu de Francais! This is
what I'm doing with a degree in languages and from a UC no
less! Esteban has a degree in Commercial Art, so I always
defer to him on the visual stuff well, almost always!
So call or e-mail us and we'll try to help; we like doing
that! We're usually pretty successful too! If you want references
to prove the above point, we can provide those as well! We
get lots of repeat orders! Those are the best of all! Thats
all folks! And thanks for joining us!
